Yes, it is almost that time again.

As the weather gets colder in Australia, things are starting to heat up across the globe. It has us all dreaming of a much-needed European vacay. Swapping coats for linen shirts, oversized jeans for denim shorts and winter boots for your favourite summer sandals.

European summer is special for many reasons. It’s the warm feeling of the beaming Mediterranean sun your back, the refreshing first dip in the ocean, the sound of your favourite house summer anthems, the smell of Carroten in the air and special moments spent with loved ones. Honestly, nothing beats it.

For those who are lucky enough to be jetting off over the next few months, what better place to spend the European summer of your dreams than on the Greek islands. After all, Greece is synonymous with summer. Some would even say it’s the summer capital of the world.

From its beautiful blue skies to its golden sandy beaches, to the sun-kissed mountain tops, the fresh octopus off the grill, the vibey beach bars and everything in between.

But there is one thing that sets Greece apart from all other European summer destinations. It’s glistening, magical turquoise seas.

And for those visiting Greece, we have broken down our Top 5 beaches to visit this summer.

  1. Sarakiniko Beach, Milos

  1. Porto Katsiki, Lefkada

This has to be one of our personal favourites! Named in the top beaches around the world on numerous occasions is Lefkada’s famous, Porto Katsiki. Its distinctive name is thought to come from the fact that only goats could originally access this area of the island. Known for its alluring landscape, a postcard really does not this place justice, as the striking Ionian blue waters are met with abrupt white cliffs making a wild yet gorgeous backdrop. Located 1 hour out of the main centre of Lefkada, the drive is more than worth it.

  1. Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia

Myrtos Beach, situated on Lefkada’s neighbouring island, Kefalonia, is also frequently listed amoungst the most stunning and outstanding beaches in all of Europe. It has received several awards for its cleanliness and the beauty of its nature, with electric blue waters, bold white pebbles and breathtaking limestone cliffs. And as for the dramatic panoramic view, well, that is something that needs to be seen to be believed.

  1. Plaka Beach, Naxos

On the Cycladic island of Naxos, Plaka beach is an absolute DREAM! With infinite soft white sand, clear blue sea and upscale beach bars - there really is something for everyone.
