Are you ready for the summer of a lifetime?

Our Australian borders are finally open again, and there is only one thing on all of our minds - travel.

And more specifically, European travel!

Is there anything better than that feeling of stepping off the plane and having the beaming Mediterranean sun on your back?

It’s that pure nostalgic feeling. The crushing blue of the crystal-clear waters, the first sip of an iced, tropical cocktail. Golden cheeks and light, sun-kissed hair. Beach parties and tanned skin.

Sounds like the summer of a lifetime, right?

Now before you decide where to spend your time overseas and finally pack your bags again and jet off, we’ve created a bite sized list of our top 5 European summer destinations for 2022.

  1. Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos is where all the fun happens. An island notorious for delivering the best party vibe in Europe.

But, Mykonos is more than just that.

Located in the Cyclades, Mykonos island has some of the most beautiful aspects that Greece has to offer. From whitewashed buildings and uniquely cobblestoned streets to deep blue waters and award-winning restaurants. Mykonos really does have it all.

During the daytime, enjoy a stroll through Chora (main town), explore the island's famous windmills near Little Venice and sip a frappe by the beach. And when night falls, party all night at some of Mykonos’ world-famous dance clubs and bars like Cavo Paradiso and Paradise Beach.

Never a letdown, Mykonos is sure to provide you with an experience of a lifetime.

  1. Positano, Italy

A cliffside village located on the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy overlooking the Tyrrenhian Sea, Positano is as picturesque as they come.

A dreamy bucket list destination, Positano is known for its stunning views and pastel coloured buildings. It also has a variety of different boutique shops and restaurants with delicious Italian dishes.

Whether it’s tanning and taking in the view from Spiaggia Di Positano or hiring a boat to explore the beautiful Mediterranean ocean - Positano is sure to take your breath away.

It really is the ultimate Instagram destination.

  1. Hvar, Croatia

Known for its hidden bays, turquoise waters and pine forest hillsides, Hvar has attracted holidaymakers from a number of countries around the world.

Hvar Town is a must visit when on the island. A hub for locals and tourists alike, many travellers are attracted to its main square, Pjaca, which consists of vibrant cafes and restaurants that offer the tastiest foods.

And if you are looking for somewhere to enjoy the sunset whilst having a boogie, Hula Hula Bar is the place to be. Only short walk from the town, this coastal hotspot allows you lounge on a sun bed by the water and vibe out to the ultimate summer tunes.

Hvar really is the crème de la crème when it comes to the Croatian island experience.

  1. Santorini, Greece

A destination that needs no introduction, Santorini is pure paradise.

The volcanic island is famous for its breath-taking panoramas and stunning sunsets from Oia town. Take in the spectacular views and admire the beautiful whitewashed buildings from the town of Thira.

Santorini is more than just views. It is also known for a string of beaches with multicoloured sand. Most notably, Kamari Beach along the island’s east coast is lined with black sand, whilst the dramatic Red Beach is located on the south coast.

Come night time, there are plenty of cliffside restaurants where you can enjoy authentic Greek cuisine whilst taking in the spectacular view.

Santorini really is a geological treasure. It is a place that a postcard cannot do justice.

  1. Comino Island, Malta

Comino Island situated between Gozo and the mainland of Malta, is the smallest of three islands that make up The Maltese Archipelago.

Despite its size, the island attracts thousands of visitors each year as it is home to Malta’s famous Blue Lagoon, a bay with crystal clear azure water. Not only is Blue Lagoon one of the most scenic places in Europe, it’s a party, with tour boats offering full-service bars and Blue Lagoon itself serving summer drinks and food.

If you are looking for picture perfect waters and the ultimate spot to tan and enjoy a pineapple cocktail, Comino Island and Malta’s Blue Lagoon is absolutely irresistible.

And whilst you bask in the European sun, you can’t forget the top up on that golden glow. From golden oils to tanning gels to after sun care - Carroten has a product for everyone. Be sure to explore the range before taking off online at carroten.com.au. or in-store at any Chemist Warehouse.
